[Aluminum] I really enjoyed this filter. Tiffen was always my favorite and this is no exception.

[3.1 x 3 x 0.5"] The use of an 81A warming filter was recommended to me by a pro photographer and this lens by Tiffen did not disappoint. It really enhanced the contrast between a blue sky and the images. With good lighting, the addition of this lens made some of the images appear as though it was 3-D. The lens was clear and crisp. This was a great addition.

[Aluminum] Over the years I have purchased several Tiffen filters so when it came time to buy a polarizing filter for my wife's new Lumix 1000 camera I chose one I was familiar and happy with. Some of the filters I purchased early on were the box store variety and I found myself frustrated by threads jamming and hard-to-turn polarizer rings. The Tiffen filters thread smoothly onto the lens (saving the lens threads from damage) and the polarizing rings move smoothly for quick adjustments. As a bridge camera the 1000 has a large zoom range and I purchased the wide angle filter (narrower edges) to accommodate the ranges without interference from the filter edges. A crazy tip I learned from fishing: Before you screw the filter onto the lens, rub your nose (natural oil from the skin) and carefully run your finger along the threads of the filter. Your filter will assemble easily and can be removed even if some moisture is present.

[3.5 x 3 x 0.3"] I just purchased two of these filters. One for my new 50-150 and the other to replace the Tiffen UV on my 17-55 (which was still flawless after four years on my lens but I wanted the extra assurance of the ht coating). I just shot 5000 frames in the less a day and a half. I was outside in the sun, a little rain, and then inside a near dark theatre. The filters got a pretty fair test. The coating is a noticeable difference when you clean the filter. It has a tackiness to it compared to the regular UV. I don't know about the other reviews for this filter but for other clear Tiffen filters I saw a lot of bs about green flares that you get from shooting directly into artificial light, not from the filter, ignore all that. My only concern when I received these was that the filter ring is a silver/titanium color. I know the description says it's titanium, but I assumed it would still be a black ring. Perhaps that's a typical thing, I'm not sure. I was a little concerned that it might have some reflective qualities that could effect the images by bouncing extra light into the lens, but so far I have seen nothing that indicates that. It looks kinda odd on the lens when you have gold rings and then this bright silver filter, but the hood covers it when shooting.

[0.1 lb] This $48 filter/lens purchased instead of Pentax's $600 portrait(50mm)lens. I thought I might give Tiffen a call when going through B&H's on line cat. I saw diffusion filters. They were several strengths as their are in the Soft Fx series. I called Tiffen direct & was advised to get a Soft FX3 when photographing older people with wrinkles. The rain finally stopped in OR. I tested the filter yesterday. I found that the longer the focal length & as expected the larger the f/stop the better. So using the filter on my 50-to-200mm lens @ almost 200mm is fantastic! On the pro's option below, I was surprised at how easy it was to still be able to focus the camera w/ filter attached. I used auto focus with no problem.

[0.4 lb] Tiffen makes in my opinion the best lens filters and viewing filters. This Contrast- Color viewing filter is not the exception. It has a great built quality, is very solid and it gets the job done if you know how to use it properly. It was designed for film faster that 200 ISO but it could be use with digital. It got delivered sooner than the expected date.

[0.095 lb] The Tiffen Skylight 1-A filter is optically clean and works as it's supposed to. I use it to protect the front lens surface.
